There's a weekend ahead and I'm hoping for a bit of quality time to spend getting the style on my site a step or two nearer the target.

How will the overall_header and overall_footer need to be amended to give the menu bar and rotating masthead graphics?

I would actually say, if you are not copying the mod edits over to it, just use prosilver standard and mod that with the borders and then work on the colours . I've replaced the path to the SWF with the {path to theme} that is in the original attributes to the Clock SWF file and everything works now.
