Re: phpBB3 to ModphpBB3 1.0.5 Conversion Instructions
I've run into a road block. I've followed (stumbled through) these instructions, but my page just displays: SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ] Table 'xxx_zzz.phpbb_portal_config' doesn't exist [1146] An sql error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact an administrator if this problem persists. The &quo...

Re: Custom Blocks
Not know really too much about board 3 portal, but I think you can add as many blocks as you want. Rememeber there is instructions around this forum to add your gallery, arcade blocks, etc. I've been looking at the MOD in the ACP and there seems to be one mini block for the sides, and one centre bl...

Re: Custom Blocks
This is the bit of the current web site that I will need to migrate over, hopefully with a less cumbersome menu/navigation system, so whichever is the easiest way to do it. The existing pages are also from a CMS plugin to phpBB2, which integrates with the Admin Panel etc, so I'm pretty used to that...

Re: Custom Blocks
Thanks for the kind words. That delay can be shortened. The Cooliris gizmo is fed from an RSS feed (generated from a Plugin in my Coppermine Gallery) I've set the RSS feed to bring up 300 images. If I'd have selected a smaller number, I don't think it would take so long to initialise. Much as I'd li...

Custom Blocks
Hi Great Custom Block feature :good: . I just had a play and added a Photo Wall into it - www.brummiesfans.com/test So refreshing that it works in phpBB3 because it certainly doesn't on my phpBB2 board (well...it does work in Firefox but not in Internet Explorer) - www.brummiesfans.com.forum/portal_...

Re: WYSIWYG Editor
I've just installed the TinyMCE MOD, and very nice it looks too. Kind of like having a Word Interface. It still needs some configuration, and then I'll be happy with it. It also toggles between itself and the standard set of buttons, so that's a nice bonus, esp for those who don't like using a lot o...

RSS News Tickers
Hi Is anyone aware of any RSS News "Tickers" which can fit into blocks on the modphpbb3 Portal? As an example of what I'm trying to replicate, have a look at the News and Sport Tickers in the bottom left hand corner on my portal page - www.brummiesfans.com Hopefully the RSS will allow for ...

Re: A MOD for the future - maybe?
I wonder if the profiles are not in much use at the moment simply because they don't have much to offer the users? (kind of, if you know the box will be empty, why open the lid?) Make a feature of the profiles, especially in youth / community based (rather than tech support) kind of environments, an...

A MOD for the future - maybe?
Hi You may be interested in what's going on here - http://mpsmod.com/viewtopic.php?p=8214#8214 It's a project which hopefully will result in a final release soon of a MOD for phpBB3. What it will do is to revolutionise the "Profiles" section of phpBB to look something more like this - http...

Re: Database Conversion
I wouldn't mind getting to a point where a user can enter their user name, and click on forgotten password, and they then get an e-mail with a new password in it. I could explain that to the masses and it's a lot easier than re-registering from scratch. hmmm...now just to find the time to have a pla...

Re: Database Conversion
Well, you're right about the password being the crux of it. For one user I typed in "changeme" as the password, and the hash of that was $H$9TH.AiQiZpOBYScQJcFIIhPAcP27Nc0 and for the next user that I created which I typed in "changeme" as the password in exactly the same way, th...

Re: Database Conversion
There isn't really anything other than a Directory on a web site, with password protection offered via a .htaccess and .htpasswd file. That directory contains stuff written in "flat" HTML, with other java games applets etc etc. There's a phpBB forum in there too that about 150 of the 2000 ...

Re: Database Conversion
No, the point here is that there is no existing forum. I have a site that I want to convert to modphpbb3 BUT the current site is a mixture of all sorts of old fashioned things, and its access was protected by .htaccess/.htpasswd files. I kept a backup of all the applied-for usernames and passwords, ...

Database Conversion
Hi As I may have mentioned elsewhere, I'm trying to convert an Access database to a schema that can be inserted to a modphobb3 user database table via phpMyAdmin. I've created a test site, created a couple of users and taken a backup of the database to see how the data is stored so how I can replica...
