Has anyone tried to add a sidebar??

I was trying to edit the css and add a sidebar can someone experienced in styling guide me through it??
I dont know how to create a div and leave the space on the left for sidebar. I am trying to edit glacier

Isn't Glacier fixed width? Not sure how a sidebar would look with it.

Cool another Gooner around the place
I have only ever seen forums with small parts of Glacier running a sidebar. Here is one

I'm not sure running 100% Glacier and sidebar would look too good. Just my opinion though.
