Sinc ei have been back in the community i have found 3 very sound Galleries. Coppermine, Gallery2 and the gallery that comes included with the modded release here. It depends on what features you want and need. The most extensive i have found of the three is Gallery2. Offers a great deal of integration with phpbb3 profile and posting bodies as well as many features that just cannot be matched by others. It does take some time to integrate it but it is worth it i believe.
